Earlier this year, the Alliance
Health Programs team ra ed
brand-new bikes along with
helmets and bike locks to teens
who worked hard making healthier
lifestyle changes to maintain a
healthy weight.
Meet the lucky bike ra e
winners: Guadalupe, Oscar and
Omar. ese members are enrolled
in the
Healthy Weight for Life
Program. is program is designed
to work with families to adopt
healthy lifestyle changes and to
reward those that meet their goals.
Oscar Ramos, winner from
Merced County:
With the help
of his provider, Nancy Adinol ,
PA-C, MPAS, Oscar was given ideas
about healthy food choices. As a
result, Oscar has made changes in
the way he eats. He now stays away
from soda, juice and junk food and
thanks his doctor, Nancy.
“Nancy is a great doctor and
supporter; she helped me with
lowering my BMI,” Oscar says. “I
am very happy that I will ride this
bike around the neighborhood to
stay active.”
Guadalupe Ramirez, winner
from Monterey County:
Guadalupe was not aware she was
enrolled in the
Healthy Weight for
Life
Program until she received
her $25 gift card
and the bicycle.
She is now more
motivated to
remain healthy
by eating more
vegetables and
fruits and by being
more active with
her new bike. Her
mother says, “We
are proud to be
part of a health
plan that provides
excellent services.”
Omar Garcia,
winner from
Santa Cruz County:
Omar
loves to spend quality time with
his younger brother and nds ways
to stay active with him. During
his wellness visit with Michelle
Simon, MD, from Paci c Coast
Pediatric Center, Omar and his
mother learned new ways to stay
healthy and be more active. Omar
says Dr. Simon played a vital role
in supporting and motivating him
to make healthier changes. He now
eats more vegetables, stays active
and drinks more water. Omar
thanks his mother for her support
of his e orts to live a healthier
lifestyle. Omar and his family would
also like to thank the Alliance for
the prizes he received. He feels the
Healthy Weight for Life
Program is
a great way to reward members for
making healthier lifestyle changes.
